Our method

The Layered Demand Capture (LDC) Framework

The LDC Framework is how we get home service companies found in all four places Google shows local results: sponsored ads, the map pack, organic results and AI answers. We work through them in a set order and measure the result every week with one number, Search Share.

Definition

What is the LDC Framework?

The LDC Framework (Layered Demand Capture) is a method for getting a local service business found in all four places Google shows local results, worked one layer at a time in an order that lowers the blended cost per job.

Ben Desjardins

Ben Desjardins, our founder, created it. He has 20+ years growing local businesses and has founded and exited three companies. "Demand" means homeowners already searching for your service, "capture" means being there when they search, and "layered" means we build your presence one place at a time.

Four places

Why Google is four separate places to win

Search "water heater repair" in any town and Google fills the page with four kinds of results. Each one picks businesses by its own rules, so being strong in one tells you little about the others.

Industry data
31%
said they only use businesses rated 4.5 stars or higher. BrightLocal, Local Consumer Review Survey 2026, 1,002 US consumers.
1

Sponsored

These are the Google Search Ads at the top of the page. With location assets, the same ads can show in the sponsored spot on Google Maps and in the map pack. You pay per click, and your bid, relevance and ad quality decide where you show.

2

Map pack

This is the map with a short list of businesses under it. Your Google Business Profile drives it, and relevance, distance and reviews decide who shows. In BrightLocal's Local Consumer Review Survey 2026 (1,002 US consumers), 31% said they only use businesses rated 4.5 stars or higher.

3

Organic

This is the list of websites under the map. Your service pages, city pages and the rest of your website decide whether you show up and how high.

4

AI answers

These are ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, the two leading sources of AI answers today. They write an answer and name or cite a few businesses and sources, drawing on the same websites, reviews and profiles the other three are built from.

You may also see Local Services Ads at the very top, the boxes marked Google Guaranteed or Google Screened. That's a separate pay-per-lead program run by Google, and we don't manage it.

The order

The order we work in, and why

01 Step 1

Sponsored first, for speed

Ads are the fastest way onto the page, and the search terms report soon shows which services and towns bring calls. That tells us where to aim the other three layers.

02 Step 2

Map pack next

The map pack sits near the top of the page and brings calls with no click cost.

03 Step 3

Organic after that

Service and city pages take longer to rank. Once they do, they keep bringing in calls with no click cost.

04 Step 4

AI answers last

AI tools pull from the facts, reviews and pages the first three layers build, so this layer gets stronger as the others do. In a monthly plan, the AI answer fix is one sprint on our sprint menu, and plans run 1, 3 or 6 sprints a month.

Why the order lowers your cost per job

Blended cost per job is everything you spend on getting found, divided by the jobs it books. Ads cost money for every click. Calls from the map pack, organic results and AI answers carry no click cost, so as those layers grow, the same budget covers more jobs.

This matters more as ads get pricier. LocaliQ's 2025 benchmarks across 3,211 US home services search campaigns (April 2024 to March 2025) found cost per lead rose for 69% of advertisers, by 10.5% on average. Average cost per lead was $127.74 for air conditioning installation and repair, $129.02 for heating and furnaces, and $129.02 for plumbing.

Search Share

What is Search Share?

Search Share is the percentage of Google's four local result types (ads, map pack, organic results and AI answers) where your business shows up for the searches that bring you jobs, across your service area.

The LDC Framework is how we raise it, and Search Share is how you see it. A single ranking shows one position for one search from one spot. Search Share rolls all four result types and your whole service area into one number you can track week to week.

How we measure it every week

1We agree with you on the searches that bring you jobs, like "water heater repair" or "drywall repair near me," and the towns you serve.

2The Sure Shot Local Rank Tracker runs those searches from points across your service area and records where you show up in ads, the map pack, organic results and Google's AI answers (AI Overviews and AI Mode).

3We count the spots where you show up and divide by the total spots checked. That percentage is your Search Share.

4You get the report every week, with what changed and what we're working on next.

Example

Say we track 20 searches across all four result types. That's 80 spots. If your business shows up in 20 of them, your Search Share is 25%.

The guarantee

If your Search Share hasn't gone up after 90 days, your next month is free.

That applies when your sprints include Google work.

LDC Framework questions

LDC stands for Layered Demand Capture. It's the method Sure Shot Systems uses to get a home service company found in sponsored ads, the map pack, organic results and AI answers, one layer at a time. Ben Desjardins, our founder, created it.

Ads are the fastest way onto the page, and their search terms show which services and towns bring calls. We use that to aim the free layers, which take longer to build. As those layers grow, your blended cost per job comes down.

A ranking report shows one position for one search, usually from one location. Search Share combines all four result types across your whole service area into one percentage, so you can see each week whether more homeowners can find you.

Each layer moves at its own pace. In our client work, the first calls from Google Ads usually come in the first week after launch, map pack movement shows up in 30 to 60 days, and organic results take 3 to 6 months. Nobody controls when an AI names a business, so we report that layer weekly with no promised date. These are typical ranges, not promises. The guarantee is on Search Share: if it hasn't gone up after 90 days, your next month is free.

It's built for home service companies that get hired from Google searches, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, drywall, painting and remodeling. Our published case study is Precision Patch Pros, a drywall repair company serving Bakersfield and Southern California.
