Organic results are the regular listings below the ads and the map pack. Local SEO for contractors means making your website the best match for searches like "tankless water heater installation" or "roof repair" in each town you serve.
It's the third of four surfaces in our LDC Framework. Ads bring calls this month and your Business Profile gets you into the map pack. Organic pages take longer to build, and once they rank, the calls they bring don't cost you anything per click.
Good pages help the other surfaces too. Google reads your website when it decides who belongs in the map pack, and AI tools read it when they answer homeowner questions.
A lot of contractor websites were built to look good, and the ranking problems sit underneath the design.
One "Services" page lists ten jobs in a paragraph. An "Areas we serve" section lists town names with nothing behind them. So when a homeowner two towns over searches for the exact job you do, Google has no page to match it to.
Add slow pages on phones, broken links from an old redesign and no articles answering the questions homeowners ask, and the site ranks for your company name and very little else.
"Our website looks fine, and it never brings in calls on its own."
"We rank for our company name and that's about it."
"We paid for SEO before and got a monthly report nobody could explain."
"I don't know if SEO is still worth it with all this AI stuff."
Every call from an organic result is a call you didn't pay a click for. For comparison, LocaliQ's 2025 home services search advertising benchmarks (3,211 US campaigns, April 2024 to March 2025) put the average paid cost per lead at $127.74 for air conditioning and $129.02 for heating and for plumbing.
A page that ranks for a job you want in a town you serve keeps working month after month. The pages you build this year become the calls you don't have to buy next year.
Our Local Rank Tracker tracks your service pages across every city you serve and plots them on a map, with week-over-week movement on each point. You see which pages rank in which towns, and where the next page should go.
Organic rankings also feed your Search Share, our weekly measure of how often you show up across ads, the map pack, organic results and AI answers for the searches that bring you jobs.

Positions in Google's organic results, with the change since last week. Example numbers, not a client's rankings.
Plan on 3 to 6 months before organic results move in a meaningful way. Pages for smaller towns and specific jobs often move first, and competitive searches in bigger cities take longer. That range comes from our own client work, and it is a typical range, not a promise.
That's why we start with paid search. Ads bring in calls while the pages build, and as organic calls grow, you can decide how much you still want to spend on ads.

Reply to your snapshot email and ask for a call. Send it before noon Eastern on a business day and Ben calls you back the same day. After noon, he calls the next business day. On the call, Ben asks which jobs and towns you want more of, so the first pages go where the work is.
We fix the technical problems and your citations, and rebuild your main service pages.
Each month you pick the next sprints with Ben, such as five service area pages or a site speed and trust boost, and we build them and link them together.
Your weekly written report shows rankings per city, what shipped, results and next bets. On the monthly strategy call, you and Ben go over the numbers and choose next month's sprints.

Local SEO work runs inside our monthly plans, alongside ads, the map pack and AI answers. Plans start at $2,750 a month and run 1, 3 or 6 sprints a month. A sprint is one focused improvement, finished and live within the month, and you pick each month's sprints with Ben from our sprint menu. Five service area pages for the towns you want more work in count as one sprint.
Articles are included in Growth (4 a month) and Momentum (8 a month), or you can get them through Sure Shot Cited from $99 a month.

For an established home service company, usually yes. A page that ranks for a job you want in a town you serve brings calls month after month without a cost per click. It takes longer than ads, which is why we run both.
Plan on 3 to 6 months before organic results move in a meaningful way. Specific jobs and smaller towns often move first, and competitive searches in big cities take longer. That is a typical range from our own client work, not a promise.
You can do a lot of it: write a page for each main service, keep your business details the same everywhere and ask customers for reviews. The harder parts are technical fixes, writing sourced articles every month and tracking rankings in every town you serve.
We still build the pages and articles and track the rankings. For technical and speed fixes, we work directly on WordPress sites. On other platforms, we give your web team a written fix list and check that each item went live.
Our monthly plans start at $2,750 a month for 1 sprint a month, and local SEO work such as five service area pages fits in one sprint. Growth ($4,500 a month) runs 3 sprints and Momentum ($8,700 a month) runs 6, with 4 and 8 Sure Shot Cited articles a month. Whoever you hire, ask what you'll see each week and make sure you own the pages they build.
No, SEO still matters, because AI answers in Google and ChatGPT pull from websites. Clear service pages and well-sourced articles help you show up there too. We cover the difference in GEO vs SEO.
